Overall fit and finish is very good. I'd prefer there weren't a very slight bit of play when deployed, but given it's a light duty knife I don't think it's worth $100 or more for a ZBP. It doesn't feel unsafe or delicate. I suspect the holes in the top of the blade make it slightly more prone to breakage, kind of like perforations near the hilt, which makes no sense to me. It's very lightweight for EDC, and the OTF mechanism is excellent. It's not big enough to be a very effective weapon, and it's about as durable as most basic pocket knives for general use. This is my first OTF, and overall I'd probably recommend a side opener with a thicker blade with more toughness and versatility for EDC.
I purchased a Microtech automatic a couple of years ago. 14 months ago, last spring, I lost the knife. Looked everywhere, didn’t find it, and ordered a new replacement. I really liked that knife and it still aggravated me that I lost it.
This week, while spraying weeds, I looked down and there it was, half buried in the dirt. It was frozen up, filthy, and I assumed useless. I took it into the house, filled it with Kroil, waited 10 minutes, and it partially deployed. Rinsed it out with hot water, flushing dirt, filled it with spray lube, and was able to partially deploy and manually pull the blade. Next cycle, worked perfectly.
After 14 months in the dirt, the only mark on it is a tiny surface spot of rust and that rubbed off with 3 seconds of polish.
NOT A SINGLE THING IS WRONG WITH THIS KNIFE! I will never doubt the price or quality of Microtech knives and am thoroughly impressed with the three I own. Awesome job guys!
The customer service from Microtech is top notch. I am so pleased with the knives I’ve gotten from them and I can say without a doubt they are the best quality of out the front knives I’ve ever tested. 10/10 worth the price.
Absolutely amazing build and quality. Smoothest action I've ever seen on an OTF blade.
Good
