Since 1999, Microtech’s flagship knife - the Ultratech - has undergone numerous changes and upgrades culminating in this latest version. Measuring 8.54” in overall length and featuring a 3.55” blade, the Ultratech Gen IV is crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum, secured with Torx screws, and equipped with an upgraded glass breaker. The new generation Ultratech features our Crud Kutter™, and Dual-Fuel Drive Train™.

I am writing to share my feedback and request some assistance regarding a recent purchase. I recently acquired the Ultratech Gen IV D/E Part Serrated Black Tactical (Model 11224-2T). As my very first Microtech, and my first knife purchase at this premium price tier, I had exceptionally high expectations based on your brand's stellar reputation in the community.
Unfortunately, my experience out of the box has been disappointing. While the packaging felt a bit underwhelming, my primary concern is the blade itself. The knife arrived noticeably dull. Furthermore, the grind on the edge appears heavily machined, lacking the refined finish and high-quality craftsmanship I anticipated at this price point.
Because I regularly review knives and hardware for my channel, I wanted to reach out to you directly before filming my review video or exploring competitor options. I would like to know if the machining and edge condition I described might be a factory defect. I am currently debating whether to initiate a return, and I would appreciate your insight on how we can resolve this.
