I've been on an OTF kicker as of late and I've always been of the opinion that if you want the best OTF you should get a Microtech. I've had my eye on a Scarab for awhile now and have finally just pulled the trigger. I haven't had my Scarab for very long and so far the knife seems to be functioning correctly but time will tell if that's to change.
Regardless I can't help to feel that I received a knife that never should have made it past QC. The knife has some seriously glaring aesthetic blemishes that shouldn't be present on a $550 knife. The milling of the two halfs is off and doesn't line up, the milling for the crud kutter is very off and doesn't line up, the edge bevel is very uneven, and the pocket clip has extremely loose retention.
Honestly I'm shocked if I didn't order this knife directly from Microtech and instead found it at a store I would have thought it to be a counterfeit because of Microtech's reputation for perfect machining. But I suppose even Microtech hits the F-IT button every now and again.
